Since 1892, the Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself. We are the oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States.
The Olympic Peninsula once ranked among the richest of the earth’s great ecosystems. But the cumulative impacts of past activities have seriously degraded that ecosystem. Increasing concern of Sierra Club members on the North Olympic Peninsula has led to the formation of the North Olympic Group. Our broad vision is to be a strong advocate and healing force for the North Olympic Peninsula’s greater ecosystem by:
- Involving of our membership in those “on the ground” activities that effect our ecosystem;
- Supporting established groups who are already working on common issues;
- Informing the community and policymakers on healthy, sustainable
ecosystems management;
- Supporting candidates for political office that will work for our objectives.
- Amplifying our advocacy with the resources of the national organization and other groups and individuals on the Olympic Peninsula who share our vision.
